This was a project I did for my architecture portfolio. Situated along the Parramatta River Walk, at a point where it can either be the start or the end of a journey. The concept highlights this dichotomy between the beginning and the end of a journey and explores the space in-between them. The form pulls apart the opposing faces of a bridge and reconnects them with two intersecting canopies that divert attention perpendicular to the journey. Revealing a different perspective.
EXAMPLE OF GREAT ARCHITECTURE:
The Bali Villas (The Jiva Puri)
Bedmar and Shi - Bali, Indonesia - 2010
Reference: Lim, Albert, et al. “The Bali Villas.” Http://Bedmarandshi.com/, Bali, bedmarandshi.com/the-bali-villas/.
Jiva Puri by Bedmar and Shi is an elegant example of combining the traditional vernacular of Balinese architecture with the minimal aesthetics of the modern. The journey through the compound relates to the Balinese belief system of the cosmological ordering of elements. With the cardinal direction of Mount Agung in the northeast associated with the scared, the middle being a zone of transition and the south symbolizing sunset, death and the profane.
A BEAUTIFUL OBJECT:
KTM 390 Duke
A beautiful motorbike by KTM that elegantly combines large, smooth curvilinear panels with the exposed angular structure and small, detailed engine components. It's an eye pleasing composition that balances form and function.
